3 Too Many

Wednesday 6 February Ramble

“Time is the best teacher; Unfortunately it kills all its students!” – Unknown

Woken once last night but in an unusual and painful way. I have a permanent IV line in at the moment for the antibiotics to be administered. Well the latest line was in the top of my left hand, and I have turned over in the night and pushed my hand under my pillow, and yep, pushed the line out against the direction it was inserted. Ouch!! Got up assessed it and decided it didn’t look to bad and wasn’t bleeding so had a Milo and went back to bed.

Wake at 8:20 and rush to dress as the nurse is due here at 8:30. The hand and line are quite sore now. Make a cup of tea, still no sign of the nurse. 8:55 she finally turns up. Seems there was some confusion as she thought it was a 9am appointment. I explain what happened with the line and she tries to save it but unfortunately can’t. Now begins the task of trying to get another line in. See previously it would have been a breeze as I had awesome veins. Now I have cancer veins and they have shrunk to pathetic little straws that hide well below the surface of the skin. She makes 4 attempts at get lines into other locations before finally getting one on the top of my right hand near the thumb. It hurts there, but it works, and is wrapped up that well that it would be almost impossible to knock it out accidentally. Going to be sporting some even more mean bruises in the next couple of days. Still I am scheduled to only have one more day of IV meds then back to normal -well my near normal anyway. Drugs in all sorted and the nurse heads off.
Get ready to face the day then, as we are heading to Nick and Anna’s for brunch with them and their boy’s. The bloody weather has packed in again and it is drizzling. It was lovely outside at 4:30 this morning. have a lovely brunch, befitting a public holiday, bacon, eggs, hash browns, sour dough toast, spaghetti and baked beans. The new kitchen looks bloody awesome too! In fact the whole house renovations looks fantastic. You’ve done yourselves proud guys. Head of then as things to do. Thanks for the great company, and lovely brunch.

Get home and do some house work. The weather is improving and warming up again. Roh and Andy stop by then to drop off a couple of pumpkin plants and Andy takes the measurements of one of the cupboards to put an additional shelf in it. Have a coffee and a chat – nice distraction from the house work. They then head off, so back to the grind. Get ready then to head to Nutty and Fridges house for F&C for tea. Get there and discover they have decided we will have a BBQ instead. Have an awesome feed and a good catch up.  Head for home as school night for the boys, actually they have swimming sports on tomorrow so need their rest now.
Sit down and try to do the blog but the bloody website that hosts it is down again. I’m starting to get a little tired of this really as it means that you folk can’t see the blog, and means that I’ve got to type it up elsewhere then copy it over once I discover the site is back again. All a little tiring really. Clear my emails and get started on the blog. M&D time and finish the blog but the site is still bloody down.  Head for bed. Give the blog site another check and it is still not running even at 1:30am.  Will check it in the morning. Hope all have had a fantastic day and if it is a day off then you really enjoyed it. If not then hope the day went smoothly for you. Two days till the weekend – hang in there! Be good, take care, keep an smiling –  catch you tomorrow.

Was fun sharing the small kids table with Oliver – not to mention the fantastic chat we shared over brunch (think he was slightly amused that I sat on the floor not a small chair!)
