3 Too Many

Thursday 16 August Ramble

“A man’s illness is his private territory and, no matter how much he loves you and how close you are, you stay an outsider. You are healthy.” – Lauren Bacal

Well what a start to the day!  Yesterday – yep, today started yesterday.  Go figure.  Don’t believe me?  Asleep then wham (only way to describe it) 11:45 last night, wide awake.  Not a subtle waking, or waking for pain or restless, this is an awakening  in that there is something wrong somewhere with someone I know.  Can’t put my finger on it but I’ll find you.  Spend the next hour or so awake then trying to figure what’s going on.  Manage to drift off but in for a restless night :-(  Awake many times during the night due to pain, etc, but mainly thinking about things.  In particular about today.  I guess it is because the emotions of the day are riding very high already.  Get up at 5:50 and head down into the gym (by the way that’s the garage where I have a home gym, free weights, spin bike and stepper) and not a commercial gym.  Good workout for about 40 mins or so. Go to get the paper and find that Dad’s paid a visit and left a care parcel at the door for me – thanks Dad.

Make a cuppa tea and do pressies and cards – thanks Sue, Jacob and Lachie – I love my new coffee cup, and plunger, lollies, coffee and bubble bath.  Thanks for the book Nevil & Rose too.  Get a call from Hannah too – thanks.  Get ready for work and head off with cake in tow for my colleagues – got to sweeten them up.  Sorry you missed out Jono.  Good day at work, with energy levels holding in there so rolling with it.  Still managing to suppress the emotions though it is hard at times.  Doesn’t help that the head is trying to give me a bad day, so they get a swift dose of pain killers – strong ones!

Head home then to rest up a bit.  Mum comes over to see me – nice to catch up and chat about all sorts. Also get a surprise call from Matt White – nice to hear from you.  Looking forward to catching up when you’re here.  Sarah and Magenta then come over for a visit too.  Lovely catch up.  Thanks for the flowers :-) love them.

Try to decide then what I feel like for dinner – nothing taking my fancy as nausea and taste buds going against me.  Finally decide on pizza and force myself to eat it – hhmmm – no comment but yuck!  Decide that a bourbon is needed to flush the foul taste out.  Works nicely.  Might have a new treatment plan actually.  Has pain killing effects, clears foul tastes and makes you sleep.  Joh calls then  to say Hi.  Sue and Jacob hastily get the pressie that she left for me – a lovely bottle of the best Jim Beam bourbon that you can get – 1795!  Yum!!  I will not be saving this one until I’m gone, nor will I curse it with impurities like coke or such.  Will save tasting it until I can actually taste properly.  I would hate to insult the purity of it by drinking it with a mung mouth.  Time to blog and ramble before Mrs Brown’s Boys.  Then M&D time and to sleep for me.  Well a vain attempt, though I think that I have the emotions back under control so will hopefully sleep.  Though I am still wondering what the glitch in the Force is that woke me at 11:45 – I will find out who/where it is.  Hope all have had / are having a fabulous day/arvo/evening.  Take care.

Thank you hugely to for all the awesome messages today – it means a huge amount to me and helped carry the emotions the right way up ;-)  It has been an emotionally draining day as you wonder how many you actually will get to have – 0? 1? 2? more? I also realise that at anytime I could be gone due to other causes, but it is hard to put that aside when the countdown clock has been started.  It makes days like today tough – really tough. It also means that you stop to read the real messages in cards, and messages.  As tough a reading, they mean a lot.  Guess I’m just getting soppy with age now!  On the good side – I now qualify for Masters 45 footy – actually bugger is that a good thing to celebrate?  Hhmm, let me think about that before celebrating maybe.
